Transcript:
I think the most common one (tax misconception)
that it happens year after year
hundreds of people fall into this trap
is they read a few articles
they watch a few TikToks and they think that okay
I'm living outside of the US
I haven't stepped foot for
you know 35 days
they they see that test
that we'll talk about it probably soon
and they say okay
I don't have to file a tax return at all
and that's very wrong because almost always
an American has to file a return
when they're living outside of the US
it's just
whether you have to pay tax while you're abroad
which may not happen
because of all the different rules that exist
so I think there's a really poorly
interpreted version of the tax treaties
that are out there that make people think that
once you're outside of the US you're free
