aspect of the quality of life
the amount of academic freedom
um wanting to possibly start a family
or raise a family somewhere else
these are things that were previously
not a factor for people coming from the US or
or Canada or the UK or things like that
but now is more in discussion
whereas we would have already seen that
is for people that are moving from other contexts
to Germany to work
so for example
following the Russian invasion in Ukraine
we had a lot of academics and students from Ukraine
coming to Germany
because of fleeing political oppression
and things like that
or leaving a crisis zone in order to work in Germany
and so we have you know
some people that are
joining us for those types of reasons
and now this is
kind of the first time that we're seeing a possible
push factors such as political things and cost uh
cost of living quality of life
work life balance
they're really starting to enter the equation
previously very very work dependent
a lot of people that work in academia
it's very because
they're very passionate about the thing that they do
and if they felt that a university
or a funded project
gave them the opportunity to do that
that was the main thing
kind of pushing them in that direction
