Hosts
Julia Neale
Julia Neale is a postpartum doula based in the Zurich area, supporting families through pregnancy and postpartum with responsive, empowering, and nourishing care. Originally Canadian, Julia came to Switzerland in 2009 for what was supposed to be one year. She met her Swiss husband that year and so started her Swiss life. After a year of long distance while she was completing her bachelor of education in northern Ontario, she returned to Switzerland and worked for 9 years as a primary school teacher in private and bilingual schools. Her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto were focused on socio-cultural anthropology and medical anthropology- she didn't realize it at the time, but it was a perfect preparation for learning about birth. She is a mom to two here on earth and three stars in the sky. Her work includes the Swiss Birth Stories podcast, birth preparation courses (including Hypnobirthing+) and postpartum support, always shaped by the people she works with.
Christine Bliven
Christine was born in Zürich and lived here nine years before moving to the US (Seattle area) with her family. Her father is American and her mother is Swiss. She studied Psychology and received a Master’s degree before following her heart (now husband) to San Diego, California. There she continued her studies and completed a Certificate in Infant Preschool Mental Health.
After several years in sunny California they decided to move to Zürich in 2014 for a year or two as her husband finished up his Phd. Since then they've had three kids and are thoroughly enjoying life in Switzerland.
